From the Hoobmind: Episode 2

Well, a few months down the line, game progress has slowed as things get busy (as they tend to do), and I start pushing into the last few pages of Wreath & Maple. It astounds me somewhat that I’ve managed to continue a project over an entire year (57 pages total), and as it’s wrapping up, I’m both relieved and a bit sad. The quality of the comic… varied, to say the least, but in the end, I think it has turned out quite alright for a first real effort. Nobody outside of my friend group has really read it, but that’s alright. Art is for the creator, and any other attention is merely a bonus, after all. Ultimately, Wreath has performed its purpose well, which was always to keep growing my artistic abilities, as well as forcing me to stick at least somewhat to a consistent schedule. If there’s anyone out there who did end up reading through it though, I hope you enjoyed, and thank you from the bottom of my heart.

But even as I think past the end of Wreath, I’m unsure as to my next project. It will free up more time (and hopefully some energy) to continue work on Near Side (temp dev name, copyright pending, etc, etc), and I really would like to return to a more widescale comic in the Crackedlands series. (I haven’t forgotten it, I just am not quite sure where I’d like to take it, you know?) There’s also some commission work, and of course, working a full-time job has a way of putting one’s head 6 feet under mentally after a long day.

Maybe someone will end up reading this, maybe it’ll only be me five years from now after this whole endeavor goes nowhere. To you though, the wayward soul in front of the screen, best of luck out there. With the world in the state it’s in, it may be easy to become overly cynical. I know I have. In the end though, things get better. They always do. Don’t give up, just think of a funny joke and make yourself chuckle and everything gets a bit brighter (personal experience).

Best of luck out there,

                Hoovy

ps. I black bordered my first map in BTD6 this week, that was pretty cool and CHIMPS is pretty hard 🙂
